At the moment we have 3 main volunteering roles available: Volunteering at the weekly Monday conversation group at the Parkway hotel from 11-1pm  Volunteers to help collect, sort and give out clothing to men seeking asylum every 6 weeks at Holy Name Church Hall (Otley Old Rd), usually on a Saturday. The next proposed date being Saturday 13th January from 12-3.30pm Volunteers to help run a monthly Horsforth Town of Sanctuary social at St Margaret’s Church on the second Friday of the month. It is with heavy hearts we have had to CANCEL the Carols in the Park event. A risk assessment on site today (Friday) found the ground is already saturated, muddy and unsafe for equipment vehicles to drive onto, plus more rain is forecast tomorrow morning, and there are other safety concerns on site. In addition the forecast for tomorrow afternoon is high winds of 40 – 50 mph, which makes for even more difficulties and safety issues. The Christmas Market and Lights Switch on event on Saturday was a very busy community event! This year The Grove wanted to open their doors and help by providing some additional community activities, so with several of us working together in partnership we were delighted to see a lovely buzz of activity as people browsed the Community Wreath Display and Textile Map, followed the Nativity Trail, listened to some music, enjoyed a cuppa and cake in the cafe, made eco-friendly Christmas Craft or played with their tots in the Tots area.
