Hidden Homeless Leeds is a grassroots organisation which supports people who are homeless, living in hostels or are generally struggling.
They run outreaches in the city centre on Wednesday and Saturday evenings, providing hot meals, drinks, food packs, clothes, toiletries, and other items to around 100 people each time. They also signpost people to further relevant support. The outreaches provide social support as people come together to chat and have a laugh as well as finding a listening ear.
Hidden Homeless communicates with other outreaches in the city centre, sharing information and resources as necessary. They are one of various outreaches, each providing support on different days of the week.
For information on other food provision in Leeds see the map and list at Leeds Food Aid Network
Hidden Homeless are always in need of volunteers to help in a range of ways:
- Cooking a meal for 50 people
- Volunteering at an outreach on a Wednesday or Saturday evening
- Collecting food and other donations (donations are stored in a unit in Horsforth)
- Preparing hot water flasks at the unit before an outreach
- Sorting clothing donations
They also welcome donations of items of food, clothing and toiletries. You can check the list of items most needed, or buy new items direct from their Amazon Wishlist.
To volunteer, or arrange to drop off items, you can contact them through the Hidden Homeless Leeds Facebook page.
You can also drop off items at Cragg Hill Baptist Church, Cragg Avenue, Horsforth on Fridays between 10 am and 1pm.
Here at Horsforth Churches Together we are glad to support the work of Hidden Homeless, including hosting their food store at Cragg Hill Baptist Church.
