A celebration of creativity, community and light in the darkness of winter.
Horsforth residents have been busy making lanterns – come and see them in action fighting off the last light of February, as we celebrate all that’s been and gone in Horsforth, and all that’s yet to come. See the Facebook page for updates.

Licensing Service for new vicar at St Margaret’s – Weds 25th Feb 7pm
St Margaret’s Church extends a warm invitation to all to attend the Licensing service for Chris Clayton (formerly at St Peter’s Harrogate).
The service will be led by Bishop Arun Arora, and refreshments will be served afterwards.
Please note parking is limited – please walk or park nearby if possible, thanks.


SEED SWAP and Nature Corridor Launch Sat 21st Feb 11am -2pm at St James’ Woodside
A family friendly event by Horsforth Climate Action with kids crafts, activities, seed swap, a meadow planting demonstration and more!
There will be a chance to view the plans for the nature corridor, which will run from north west/south east from Hunger Hills Woods, down Broadgate Lane, past St James’ Church and onto Low Lane Recreation Ground. And to sign up and get involved – Free bundle of nature goodies for those who sign up!

Family Film Afternoon Sat 21st Feb 2.30pm at The Grove Centre – showing ‘Paddington’
With an all star cast including High Bonnerville, Sally Hawkins and Julie Walters. Adapted from Michael Bond’s beloved books, follow Paddington in the first of his comical adventures. A young Peruvian bear travels to London in search of a home. Finding himself lost and alone at Paddington Station he meets the kind Brown family who offer him a temporary haven. But little do the Browns realise just how much comic mayhem one young bear will bring to their family life.
Avery informal screening for children and families, with soft play areas for little ones and ice cream and sprinkles in the interval. Free but donations welcome to cover costs.

Craft & Chat Group next meeting Thurs 12th Feb 2pm at The Grove Centre
Come along to this Craft & Chat group once a month usually on the 2nd Thurs of the month. All crafters welcome, male or female. Just bring your current project, whether it’s knitting, crochet, painting, sewing, etc and have a drink and a chat for an hour. There is a £3 meeting charge to cover costs. Entrance is first door you can see to the right on New St (Small Hall).

Tech Donation Station at Repair Cafe Sat 7th Feb 1 – 4pm
Got new devices for Christmas, or having a clear out? Bring unwanted tablets, mobiles and laptops to the TECH DONATION STATION at the Repair Cafe on Sat 7th Feb 1 – 4pm. They will be wiped and updated and then redistributed to refugees and asylum seekers in need by HCA partner SOLIDARITECH.

New Year, new you? – Bring your unwanted clothes and swap for up to 5 items new to you, intead of sending to land fill.

NEXT FARMERS’ MARKET – Sat 7th Feb 9am – 12.30pm
After a break in January the market will be back on the first Saturday of the month with a new stall from Wild Spore Co (lovely mushrooms), live music from the Joy Choir and also Jenny Cole, and Horsforth Garden Shop and Horsforth Town Council on the Community Matters stalls. See you there!

Grove Cinema -Friday 6th Feb 6.45pm for 7pm showing of Atonement

VACANCY – The Grove Room Bookings Coordinator/Administrator 12 hrs /week – deadline 19th Jan
The ideal applicant will be an experienced administrator, comfortable working in a busy church environment and a great communicator. This is a new post and the person appointed will be required to:
- Act as the first point of contact for new booking enquiries, and update the booking system
- Coordinate room booking forms and their approval, and show people around the Centre
- Liaise with other members of the Grove team
- Fulfil other suitable administrative duties as directed by the line manager
The appointment requires an enhanced DBS Disclosure.

VACANCY – Manager needed at Horsforth Shed, deadline 16th January
Horsforth Shed is now in an exciting stage of their development and are seeking to employ a full-time Shed Manager to:
- ensure consistent delivery to service users by reducing our reliance on volunteer-led sessions
- support and further train existing volunteers through collaborative working
- enable us to ‘onboard’ new volunteers more effectively and expand our pool of volunteers
- broaden our outreach by providing evening and weekend classes

Alpha Course Tues evenings 6.30pm – Leeds Trinity Chaplaincy
In the modern world, there is not much space for life’s big questions. Not much time set aside for: Why am I here? Is there more to life than this? Where is God in this? What is the point of prayer? Join a series of group conversations that freely explore the basics of the Christian faith in an open, friendly environment. At each Alpha session, you’ll be hosted in a small group and watch an episode on a different question of faith – then you have a chance to share your thoughts and hear what others think. You can say anything you like, or nothing at all. Everyone’s welcome. You’re invited, no matter your background or beliefs. It’s free, and there’s no pressure to come back.
