Christmas is full of social gatherings where you may feel pressured to put on a brave face. It can be hard to find time and space to openly acknowledge your grief during this holiday period. Our bereavement café offers dedicated time to reflect, share stories, and to even say your loved one’s name aloud, which can often be comforting.
Our café offers a place to find comfort, strength and connection with others, reminding you that you are not alone in your grief journey during a particularly challenging time of the year.
There’s no pressure to talk. Just come as you are. Sit quietly and have a cuppa.

The team at Horsforth Churches Together are busy planning this popular event at the Band stand in Horsforth Hall Park from 4 -4.30pm. Come and enjoy a hot drink and mince pie whilst singing carols – with great music by the Stroke of Genius Big Band.

Mother’s Union Meeting at St Margaret’s – Once a month Tuesdays 2pm, next meeting 10th Dec
Mothers’ Union is an international Christian charity that supports families and campaigns for social justice. We meet once a month at St Margaret’s Parish Centre and everyone is welcome to join us – tea and cake provided. Here are the topics and dates for the next few meetings:

Also, the Union are collecting reading glasses and rosary beads for the prisoners at HMP Armley, as requested by the chaplains there. These can be left in the box in the foyer area at St Margaret’s Church. Thank you.

This is a beautiful opportunity to pray for healing for yourself or others, whether physical, psychological, or spiritual. Remember Jesus is alive, and miracles can and do happen! Everyone is welcome, including non-Catholics and those of no faith – all that is needed is an openness to Jesus.


Christmas Lights Switch-On & Christmas Market sat 6th Dec 12noon – 7pm
Horsforth Town Council and Horsforth Town Team are again teaming up bring this Community Christmas Event – with the market along Town Street (from 12 noon) and then a programme of Live Music and presentations on the stage at The Green (from 5pm), including the Lights Switch on.
Horsforth Churches Together will have a simple stall (advertising Carols in the Park etc ) and a Stable with a nativity dressing up activity just in front of The Grove Church – pop by and see us!

Leeds Trinity Chaplaincy Carol Service – Weds 3rd Dec 7pm- Leeds Trinity Chapel
Join us for a festive evening of candlelit carols, readings and reflections as we celebrate our annual Leeds Trinity University Carol Service. There will be performances from the Leeds Trinity University Chapel Choir & Mount St Mary’s Catholic High School, and the service will be followed by complimentary tea, coffee, mulled wine & mince pies.

The evening will feature a talk from Rev’d Jon Swales MBE, Church of England priest and prophetic theologian, exploring cruciform adaptation—what it looks like to follow Jesus in a world of climate breakdown and societal fracture. Creative prayer stations will also offer space for lament, intercession, and hope.
Organised by Leeds Church Institute and partners.

Lister Hill Baptist is once again supporting this amazing charity & bringing joy to children’s faces around the world, plus they are an area collection centre. Last year over 400 christmas shoeboxes were sent from Horsforth! If you would like to help , you can either, just give items (toys, hygiene items, school supplies etc) before 8th November – or put together a whole shoebox & drop the box off at Lister Hill as follows:

Celebrating three years of Horsforth Climate Action we invite you to join us for a day of sustainability, community, engagement and fun. Working closely with Friends of Horsforth Hall Park, our community members and other local organisations, plenty of activities are being planned, including:

St James’ Heritage Open Day Sat 20th Sept 10am -4pm
St. James’ Church on Low Lane will be open to visitors as part of the Heritage Open Weekend from 10 am to 4 pm on Saturday 20th September.
We will have displays of artefacts and pictures representing the history of St. James’ over the past 177 years.
There will be activities for children, including hunting for the church mice, which have been lovingly knitted for us by a member of the congregation. We have a Churchyard trail to find the gravestones which commemorate those who died in the World Wars.

Festival Headdress Decoration Workshops Tues 5th Aug 10am and 1pm at Stocked., New Rd Side
Horsforth Climate Action are partnering with Stocked to host our first two workshops to decorate headdresses for Horsforth Green Festival.
Young people and parents/carers are invited to join us for ‘Pay as You Feel’ workshops on the morning and afternoon of Tuesday 5 August.
Taking place at stocked, each young person will have the opportunity to colourfully decorate a willow-sculpted headdress. Decoration will be primarily with tissue paper, glue and ribbon.
All materials provided, please wear messy-friendly attire!
Attendees will later be invited to wear the colourful fruit and vegetable headdresses as part of a visually spectacular parade at Horsforth’s first Green Festival, taking place in Horsforth Hall Park on Sunday 21 September.

Welcome to the Horsforth Summer Arts Club!
Join us for a fun-filled program of creativity and inspiration. From painting to sculpture, fused glass to Warhammer painting, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Come unleash your imagination and experiment with different mediums. No experience necessary, just a passion for art! Make new friends, learn new skills, and let your creativity shine.
This event is run and Funded by the Outer North West Community Committee & Horsforth City Councillors with help from Horsforth Walk of Art collective and the Horsforth Arts Society.
Who is it for? There will be 2 sessions every Friday in August for kids and teens:

- 1pm – 3pm for older kids aged 11 – 14

Grove Cinema ‘Lemon Tree’ Friday 4th July 6.30pm for 7pm showing
Salma Zidane, a widow, lives simply from her grove of lemon trees in the West Bank’s occupied territory. The Israeli defence minister and his wife move next door; the Secret Service orders the trees removed for security. Refusing to bow down, she engages lawyer Ziad Daud to take her case to the Supreme Court, which brings international attention.

Trinity Sunday Funday Sun 15th June -(Mass at 11.15am, Funday activities from 12.30pm)
A great family funday for everyone at Leeds Trinity – bring a packed lunch and join in the fun, drinks and cake provided!
Festivities will begin at 11.15am in the Chapel where Mass will be celebrated by Rt Rev Marcus Stock (Bishop of Leeds). Celebrations will then continue outside the main entrance at about 12.30pm with complimentary hot drinks and cake, bouncy castle, face painting, lawn games, candy floss cart and more. It is set to be a really enjoyable day for all, so please do come to some or all of the day’s activities- everybody is welcome.

Horsforth Beer and Music Festival Fri 6th and Sat 7th June at St Margaret’s Church
Join us at St. Margaret’s Church Horsforth for a day filled with great music and delicious beer. Get ready to enjoy live performances from local bands while sipping on a variety of craft beers. The festival will have three sessions:
- Friday 6th June 5pm-10pm with headliners Go Your Own Way which will be adults only
- Saturday 7th June 12-5pm- The family friendly session!
- Saturday 7th June 5pm-10pm with Old Skool Anthems headlining which is adults only!
A variety of tickets from single sessions (£6.13 / £3.41 for 16-17 yr olds, free for under 16’s) to whole day (£11.55) to whole weekend (£16.96)

Kidical Mass Bike Ride Sat 7th June 1.30pm meet outside Grove Church
For the second year running HCA are hosting a Kidical Mass bike ride in conjunction with Leeds Cycling Campaign
Meet outside The Grove Church on Saturday 7th June at 1:30pm with your bike and helmet. the ride will be about 6 miles and will include some flat and some hilly sections.
This is a family friendly event and all ages are welcome if they are able to complete the distance. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
There will be refreshments in The Parlour at the Grove after the event plus a display of Children’s posters from the Walk to School Week.
We hope to have a Bike Fix running on the day, plus bike donations for the Big Bike Fix.

Family Film Afternoon Sat 31st May 2.30pm at The Grove Centre – ‘SING’
Set in a world like ours but entirely inhabited by animals, Sing stars dapper Koala Buster Moon who presides over a once-grand theater that has fallen on hard times. An eternal optimist, and a bit of a scoundrel, he loves his theater above all and will do anything to preserve it. Facing the crumbling of his life’s ambition, he takes one final chance to restore his fading jewel to its former glory by producing the world’s greatest singing competition. Five contestants emerge: a mouse, a timid elephant, a pig, a gorilla and a punk-rock porcupine.
This Family Film Afternoon showing will be in an informal setting with a separate soft play area set up for younger children who prefer not to stay for the whole film. Plus there will be our regular ice cream and sprinkles at the interval!

Documentary based on Isabella Tree’s best-selling book by the same title, Wilding tells the story of a young couple that bets on nature for the future of their failing, four-hundred-year-old estate. They battle entrenched tradition, and dare to place the fate of their farm in the hands of nature. Ripping down the fences, they set the land back to the wild and entrust its recovery to a motley mix of animals both tame and wild. It is the beginning of a grand experiment that will become one of the most significant rewilding experiments.

CHOIR FESTIVAL at St James’ Sat 26th April 6pm
After last year’s popular event, St James’ on Low Lane are having another CHOIR FESTIVAL featuring these 5 local choirs: Horsforth Community Choir, three choirs from the Horsforth Music Centre and MOSS (Men Only Singing Songs from Ben Rhydding).

Covid 19 Day of Reflection Sun 9th March 1 -3pm at The Green
2025 marks five years since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic that changed many of our lives forever.
Horsforth Community Assets Project (HCAP) and Horsforth Town Council invites the community to join them in marking this significant milestone on the Covid 19 National Day of Reflection. A chance to:
- Remember and commemorate lives lost
- Reflect on the sacrifices made and the resilience shown
- Pay tribute to the work of health and social care staff, front line workers, researchers, volunteers and neighbours.
