A range of Easter events meant that all could engage in the right way for them – from a bacon buttie outside The Grove, to hunting eggs at St James, or reflecting around the cross on Good Friday, or at sunrise on Sunday – we joined in with remembering the suffering and joy of the events of that first Easter.
Firstly, on the Saturday before Easter we had a new Pop Up event held on The Grove Grass – inviting people to drop by, sit down for a bacon buttie or soup and have a chat, Phil Maud of The Grove church was very pleased with how it went, saying: “On a glorious day we met people where they were; offered a Palm Cross, Christian literature explaining Easter and talked over free food. Amazing conversations were had, seeds planted that we offer to God.”

Then our annual Walk of Witness and Good Friday Service which attracted around 200 people to sing and walk together and then reflect on Jesus’ sacrifice on that day:

Then we proceeded to The Grove Church Centre where we enjoyed having a chat over hot soup, a cuppa and hot cross buns. Many thanks to The Grove for hosting us!

On Easter Saturday lots of families flocked to St James’ Woodside for the annual Easter Egg Hunt, which also included craft, games, bouncy castle, meet the character from the Easter story, and of course cake and a cuppa! Plus Horsforth Shed were being very persuasive to sell us their lovely handmade woodwork items! Can you spot Pontius Pilate taking a break?

Lastly but not least, some people got up early for the short reflective Sunrise Service in Hunger Hills Woods, remembering the wonder of the resurrection that first Easter Sunday.
